Student Success Statement

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder”.
-Thomas Carlyle
A rudder is located in a ship. A rudder is responsible of guiding the boat to a certain destination or location. In this quote the rudder is represented as a goal, and the man is represented as the ship. What this quote is influencing is, a goal you have is what will make you move and determined to reach that goal. As in representation in a ship, the rudder is what will get the ship to the destination or location the one behind the wheel determine to set sea in. A goal is the main concept in this quote. A goal can mean something much more than a goal. A goal is a way to continue and strive in life so we can accomplish more. Without a goal, there is no movement or desire to get to a certain reach. An individual with no goals in life will not move and not reach a certain life they desire. Only the idea of having goals set in mind will encourage you to accomplish them, without it there are no movement to ensure life.

An example that can follow up this quote is your own self. Yourself is the only person that can make yourself improve or do nothing. Yourself is your remote to your buttons. An individual themselves can only determine if they desire to accomplish something. A goal is not just a goal, but it is a personal development we make for our own selves. A goal is our way to set something so we can grow or get to a certainty. Without goals we wouldn’t learn from our mistakes and learn from them. Goals are in our everyday lives, it the decisions we make that change everything.
