Health Sciences Librarian
Duties and Responsibilities:
A Health Science Librarian is a person who provides medical information to others in any way with words on paper. For example, some of the tools they use to help inform others are medical journals, pamphlets, books, and the internet valid sources. A Health Science Librarian is basically a librarian , you go to them when you need information on anything related to the medical. These special different type of librarians work with patients, health informationist, students, and doctors to seek knowledge over somethings. You can find a Health Science Librarian in health organizations, pharmacies, health centers, medical school, and sometimes even at the hospital. These professional are expert in searching and finding valid information on what you want/need to know.
Salary: $52,000
Education: Health Science Librarians are required to have a graduated from High School taking the classes of math, english, typing, and science. Besides that, in college they are required a; 4 year Bachelor’s degree in the focus of science and computer science, Masters degree in library science (MLS) in courses about biomedical communication and resource use, and they need to be certified by the Medical Library Association for certification and examination to help the librarian advance in a higher and more suitable position.
Demand or need for this profession: 3%-9% increase by the next decade.
Reflection: I would not like to become a Health Science Librarian, because it falls under the medical field and it has to do with books. I in the future do not see myself as a librarian and even less more likely when it focuses in the medical field. I personally struggles understanding and keeping the knowledge about our own selves health and body in mind. The medical field isn’t for me and under the pressure as the librarian it wouldn't help either.
