Memorial Day

Memorial Day Weekend
This 3 day weekend was too short and it was too fast. During this memorial weekend I kept my mind set to honor those who fought for our country. I went out to shop for a small flag and I planted it in my front yard. As well, I looked over to my pictures when I went to Washington and remembered those moments. During the weekend I prepared myself for this monday. I went grocery shopping and we did some family relating things. The memorial day monday was just a day for ourselves to remember those who fought for our country as well as seclude any problems we have currently in our lives. Besides the actual memorial day monday i hanged out with some friends on the saturday night. As usual during a weekend I did my homework. At the moment I still am working on some homework, I been working on an essay and mentally prepare myself for my upcoming finals. Finals may not be a big deal at the moment, but it still gives me the temptation to do good, because it still counts toward my grade. Besides that, I didn’t do so much interaction on this weekend. I was rarely going out this weekend and just stayed home to do chores or prep for the actual Memorial Day. It was a weekend that not much happened. Although it wasn’t the best, I recognized the freedom I have today.

  5. Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. This holiday birthday was started by President Lyndon Johnson in May of 1966. Memorial day was created after the civil war, which ended in 1865. On the first memorial, General James Garfield  gave a speech at the Arlington Cemetery in Washington D.C to give honor and respect to those in the war.
  6. Somethings I will do to show honor and respect on this Memorial Day is; I will do the pledge of allegiance when I wake up, I will put up an American Flag, I will fly the flag outside my home, I will take a remembrance of my trip to D.C.
  7. Memorial Day isn’t something I really know about, but with this information I learned gives me an idea of what this day is about. This holiday is a great way to show our honor and respect to those who died serving our country. This holiday should be honor and taken into consideration by others of those who serve for us without a necessary to. Memorial Day is a great excuse to show our respect with fun things to get the little ones to know. Memorial Day may not be celebrated by all, but it should be a day where everyone knows what it is. We should all pay our respects and have no disrespect towards the others. Everyone should take in this day and remember those who died. Memorial Day is always remembered on the last monday of May.
