Columbus Day is a holiday some people celebrate on October 10th of the landing of Christopher Columbus arriving and discovering America. This holiday is to celebrate the achievements and the Italian-American heritage. Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer.He was born in 1451. His first voyage took place around the world on the Atlantic Ocean in 1476 He was one of the first people to actually explore and find the viking in American. Columbus day happened on the 2nd Monday of october, October 12, 1492. This holiday also celebrates the settlement of the Europeans in America. Many others don’t see this holiday good,because of the Europeans themselves. Europeans were the main cause of sickness, they brought diseases that killed. For example, the smallpox. Christopher Columbus is known for “discovering” the New World also know as the Americas. Bases on history belief, many don't really believe that Christopher Columbus was the discover of the America's. Other people in mind believe that Leif Erickson discovered the "New Worlds" as they call the America. The theory of Christopher Columbus had been proven wrong, but history is history.

I personally do not celebrate this day. I honestly didn't really realize this was a day/holiday until today. Referring to this day i know some people who do not believe Christopher Columbus was the first to discover the "New World". I personally do believe that Christopher Columbus didn't discovered the New World. Referring back to my last presentation, I learned from research that Christopher Columbus arrived at San Jose/Juan, Puerto Rico on a voyage. Christopher Columbus is known for discovering the world, but how can he be the one who discovered the world if he landed on a voyage in Puerto Rico. I wouldn't argue on this because it's just a belief. History is History and it has passed.
